60K Clothing was a clothing brand set up entirely by Luke Tucker and James Maharg as a personal project during university to raise attention of high student fees. It got it’s name 60K clothing as that’s Luke’s and James’ combined fees. They created a clothing brand as they liked fashion, really enjoyed branding and thought it would be a great way to connect with students in the hope of getting them to sign their petition to lower university fees. Luke and James did everything themselves from designing the brand and the clothing,  sourcing the materials, photographing the stock, advertising it and then finally finding a shop and decorating it to sell everything they had created. Being students with only a small budget their main source of advertising was print and social media. They created posters with funny quotes relating to students such as “Thanks to student loans for getting me through university I don’t think I can ever repay you” 60K clothing had a pop up shop for a week in March in Swansea city center which had branded merchandise, an iconic 60 grand shirt center piece - A exclusive one off shirt for £60,000 which if sold would pay off their debts. Aswell as their own brand of a basic student meal - boring baked beans! The shop and the brand was really successful as they managed to spread their message whilst selling out of all of their stock! They also gained alot of publicity with the brand and appeared on Wales Online, South Wales Evening Post, Capital FM and Swansea Bay TV.
